Toli Commercial Floor Coverings

Group Building Solutions Ltd (GBS) sells TOLI commercial flooring products in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. TOLI manufactures a unique range of certified environmentally rated carpet tiles that incorporates recycled content or can be fully recycled. TOLI also leads the world in closed loop recycling since 2001.

Started in 1919, TOLI began as the first linoleum manufacturer in Japan. Along with carpets, vinyl tiles and vinyl sheets TOLI fast became recognised as a major floor covering company. Today operating four manufacturing plants that make high quality interior products.

Application/Purpose

For all commercial, agedcare, healthcare, corporate, retail, education and government facilities that need to cope with extremely high foot traffic, castor chair, office churn and ease of change out. Useful for properties where designers require an environmentally reliable approach to supply, low maintenance and removal at end of life.

Toli started to produce tile carpet that uses recycled sheets around three years ago as a made to order product. These types of carpets not only for public buildings but also for commercial use. Toli sold more than 300,000m² by 2004. In 2005 and Toli sold more than 500,000m².

Benefits/Advantages

Toli produces five kinds of environmentally rated tile carpet. The recycled materials make up around 20% of the carpet.

Other beneficial attributes include:

- 15-year warranty for dimensional stability, appearance retention, excessive wear.
- Anti asthmatic and Antimicrobial - inhibits the growth and spread of Dust mite and bacteria.
- Antistatic – reduces the propensity for excessive static electrical discharge less than 1.0kv.
- Extra Heavy Duty.
- Flame Resistant – low spread of flame.
- Green purchasing law certified – Japanese requirement for a minimum 20% recycled content.
- Low formaldehyde and VOC certified to a max. (F ????) rating.
- Operational carpet tile re-use plant since 2001 – extends the life of the carpet tile pass 15 years; reduces the need for additional energy and resources.
- Operational PVC recycling plant since 2001.
- Stain resistant fibres.
- Water repellent fibre properties - AATCC 118 Dupont.

Composition

Toli modular carpet tiles comprise of BCF Nylon 100% Solution and space dyed as its primary face fibre; Toli modular carpet tiles backings uses no bitumen content and has a variety of 100% recycled PVC with glass fibre for dimensional stability)

Toli produces five kinds of environmentally friendly tile carpet. Toli managed to recycle waste from factories through breaking down old materials, melting them, and then shaping them into a sheet that is then put onto the back of carpet tiles. The recycled materials make up around 20% of the carpet.

Toli are planning to promote “Zero emission” in its factory and TTR System (Toli Tile carpet Recycle System) to fulfil our environmental project even further.

Safety of recycled tile carpets – Waste from the process of making tile carpets in factories is mainly used to make recycled sheets, which are used for tile carpets. Toli are cautious about safety and do not use anything that will cause harm to the human body.

Installation and Maintenance Summary

Maintenance:
Cold-water extraction recommended. No harsh chemicals are required further reducing indoor VOC and the down stream effects of chemical agents. See cleaning manual (Link)

Installation:
Use only the Toli Pressure Sensitive Adhesive this is low in VOC and allows for tile rotation. See installation manual (Link)
