Installation and Maintenance Summary

Storage and conditioning - ECO.EDGE mouldings and jambs should be stored away from moisture, heat and direct sunlight in a well ventilated area. Prior to fixing it is recommended that the mouldings are removed from all packaging, separated and preconditioned

Cutting – A fine toothed saw is recommended for cutting mouldings, with the blade cutting on the downward stroke.

Fixing – Corrosion resistant fastening options included the following.

Nailing - use standard finishing brad lengths, giving a minimum fixing penetration of 25mm into the framing timber.

Stapling- Narrow crown staples are recommended. Excessive penetration below the surface should be avoided, regulative air pressure accordingly. Staple length should be twice the thickness of the moulding to allow sufficient hold into the framing timber.

Adhesives - ECO.EDGE mouldings and jambs can be back fixed using contact or wall board adhesive in the area of installation for a minimum of 48 hours.

MINIMISES GREENHOUSE GASES / ENERGY USE
Southern Pine Products has systems in place to record and track the power usage, LPG and Diesel used at each month. Continuous actions aim to progressively reduce the energy use (i.e. installing energy efficient lighting and motors). SPP is also looking at reducing potential energy use and considering environmental issues for any new purchases.
LOW HEALTH RISK
Eco Edge contains no hazardous substances prohibited by Environmental Choice NZ Standards. No fungicides or biocides are added to the wood products. Surface treatments used by Southern Pine Products do not include any substance that contains formaldehyde and are classified as non-toxic or allergenic by inhalation. SPP also undertake noise monitoring and workplace formaldehyde monitoring annually.

SPP has a formal environmental management system (EMS) with ISO 14001 in place. This compliments the company gaining regulatory consent for air discharge, hazardous substance certification under government HSNO regulations and waste management.
RESOURCE EFFICIENT
The manufacturing site for the product has installed a briquetting and palletizing machine for processing waste wood.
