Firth has a Hollow Masonry block suited to vitually every construction application.

The Firth Hollow Masonry range provides an ideal way to construct attractive, durable, low maintenance homes, commercial and industrial developments.

Firth Hollow Masonry also can be used for landscaping features such as retaining walls, fences or in-ground swimming pools.

GuardBloc® is ideal for applications where extra weather tightness is desired including single skin masonry and all Architectural Masonry applications.

Benefits/Advantages

Strength: a significant advantage over light timber frame construction. Rigidity, durability, will not rot.

Thermal Mass is one of the greatest advantages of concrete masonry. Its capacity to store energy and delay the passage of heat reduces material costs and energy consumption, while enhancing the comfort of people living or working in the building.

Fire Protection: concrete masonry is recognised by the Fire Service and insurance industry for its extra ability to resist fire.

Sound Control: concrete masonry reduces sound transmission.

GuardBloc® also has superior water resistance. After wet weather GuardBloc® drys out quickly allowing more rapid blocklaying.

Composition

Firth Hollow Masonry is made of concrete, an inert material comprising aggregates, sand, cement and water. Aggregates and sand are sourced close to manufacturing locations. Cement is New Zealand made. No toxic preservatives are required for preventing rot.

Firth is committed to sustainability in concrete manufacture and distribution, including the recycling of surplus raw materials, water and leftover concrete.

Firth GuardBloc® masonry has water resistant ingredients in the block mix that increase resistance to the passage of water through them.
