Home > Interior > Linings > Sheet Linings > Plasterboard linings GIB Aqualine® GIB Aqualine® has been specifically designed for wet areas with a special water-resistant wax polymer impregnated core to help protect against steam and moisture damage. Generally, wet areas are described as spaces where fresh water is reticulated, such as bathrooms, showers, toilets, laundries and kitchens. GIB Aqualine® is ideal for wet areas as it will maintain its integrity for extended periods, particularly where wicking over large areas can destroy the integrity of the interface between the lining and paint or wallpaper surfaces or between the lining and the tile adhesive.

It is highly desirable to include GIB Aqualine® in all areas at risk of water or moisture damage, in order to prolong the life expectancy of that space. The GIB Aqualine® core resists penetration of water through the lining into the framing behind, and also resists water “wicking” up the core. GIB Aqualine® is suitable for tiling to the full height of walls. 10mm GIB Aqualine® can be used for tiles up to 20kg/m2 and 13mm GIB Aqualine® can be used for tiles up to 32kg/m2.
GIB Aqualine® is water resistant to help protect against steam and water damage. It’s an ideal substrate for paint, wallpaper, tiles, sheet vinyl and rigid sheet shower linings. It’s a proven wet area substrate with installations in over 300,000 wet area rooms. Suitable for both residential and non-residential applications. Easy to install & cut, no packing out, conventional jointing, easy to achieve quality paint finish. Cost effective. GIB Aqualine® contains fiberglass and other additives for strength and fire resistance.
GIB Aqualine® is made up of naturally occurring gypsum, 100% recycled paper, and a small quantity of other ingredients (which includes approved glues and additives required to improve the quality of the finished board). Gypsum or, to use its scientific name, calcium sulphate dihydrate (CaSO4.2H2O) is a naturally occurring mineral and most deposits are considered to be precipitates formed during the evaporation of sea waters saturated with soluble salts. GIB Aqualine® features a water resistant wax polymer impregnated core to help protect against steam and moisture damage. It also contains fiberglass and other additives for strength and fire resistance.
- GIB Aqualine® is a paper-bound, modified water-resistant gypsum-plaster core sheet lining material. - GIB Aqualine® face paper is green in colour and the sheets have a taper on the two long sheet edges. - GIB Aqualine® is available in 10mm and 13mm sheet thickness, a sheet width of 1200mm and a range of lengths. - The maximum weights are 7.8kg/m² and 10.2kg/m² for 10mm and 13mm thick sheets respectively. - GIB Aqualine® also contains fiberglass and other additives for strength and fire resistance - GIB Aqualine® must not be used in areas of high humidity (above 90% RH) or continually wet. - GIB Aqualine® is suitable as a substrate for tiling up to the following weights: 10mm GIB Aqualine® up to 20kg/m² and 13mm GIB Aqualine® up to 32kg/m². - GIB Aqualine® has a serviceable life of at least 15 years as a fully protected shower or water splash lining. - As a general wall and ceiling lining GIB Aqualine® will have a serviceable life in excess of 50 years.
- GIB Aqualine® can be ordered in many standard sizes, allowing builders to reduce the amount of waste by ordering the most efficient lengths. - GIB Aqualine® is completely recyclable. - On larger projects the waste plasterboard can be separated on site and diverted to approved composting operations, and blended with compost and returned to soils throughout the country. - For smaller projects, it can be ground up and spread around the building site reducing the volumes of construction waste going to landfills.
