InterfaceFLOR (represented by InterfaceNZ within New Zealand and the Pacific Islands) makes and sells the Industry’s largest and most diverse range of Carpet Tiles. In all our ranges we offer specifiers, architects and interior designers an almost infinite variety of colour combinations, textures and patterns, suitable for every kind of commercial application. All InterfaceFLOR carpet tile is Climate Neutral and contains recycled content of a higher quantity than required by Environmental Choice New Zealand.

Modular 500mm * 500mm solution dyed 6’6 nylon carpet tile. Rated commercial extra heavy duty and stairs. Contains life-time anti-microbial and comes with a 15 year warranty on manufacturing defect, electrostatic propensity, excessive wear and dimensional stability.

Application/Purpose

All commercial facilities. Especially those experiencing excessive foot traffic, office churn or where castor chairs are used. Residential properties requiring an eco-friendly with minimal VOCs carpet or where easy cleaning is required. As the carpet tile is solution dyed it is often used in rumpus or pool rooms as the chlorine (bleach) will not remove the colour from the carpet.

Composition

Solution Dyed 6’6 nylon. Backing is GlasbacRE (recycled backing). Nylon has a minimum of recycled content of 30%. Tile using GlasbacRE has a minimum recycled content by weight up to 50%.

MINIMISES GREENHOUSE GASES / ENERGY USE Interface Inc (the manufacturer) has an energy plan that seeks to maximise the use of renewable energy in Manufacturing, sales and offices. Interface NZ (the importer) only sources electricity from Meridian Energy which is 3rd party verified carbon neutral and purchases hybrid petrol/electric vehicles for its sales force
LOW HEALTH RISK InterfaceFLOR products meet all of the relevant standards and satisfy the specifications for Environmental Choice New Zealand and the Green Star office design V1. InterfaceFLOR products are low VOC and have undergone stringent formaldehyde testing. Interface’s patented Intersept provides anti mould properties for the life of the carpet and is non toxic.
LIMITS POLLUTION In 1997, Interface worldwide inventoried all existing air stacks and wastewater discharges. Interface are aiming to eliminate stacks and emission sources through process elimination and process redesign, as well as alternate energy sources, including green energy. InterfaceFLOR manufacturing in Australia (supplier of NZ product) has minimised emissions to land or water.
RESOURCE EFFICIENT Interface’s goal is to eliminate waste. To accomplish this, it is re-examining current sources of waste and creating programs to first reduce and then to eliminate them. Product development process includes the use of LCA tools with the intention to reduce the mass of materials needed whilst increasing product quality and specifications.

Green Star NZ points are weighted by the environmental significance of the category they are in. Each point contributes to the total overall score of the project but are not absolute. Greenbuild has reviewed this product and confirms its potential contribution to points under the following credit categories:
IEQ-13	Up to three points are awarded where it is demonstrated that various finishes meet the benchmarks for low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) content. One point is awarded for each criterion below that is achieved: • 95% of all painted surfaces are low-VOC paints OR no paint is used; • All carpets are low-VOC OR no carpet is installed; and/or • All adhesives and sealants are low-VOC OR no adhesives/sealants are used.
Mat-9	One point is awarded where it can be demonstrated that 90% or more of the carpets used are independently certified as having lower environmental impact than standard carpets, as verified through a materials certification body recognised by the NZGBC (e.g. NZ Environmental Choice). If carpets are not part of the project’s contract/lease then this credit is ‘Not Applicable’
