EcoStar Low Voltage Wire And Cable

EcoStar is a range of low voltage wire and cable which use no PVC and are also Halogen Free. All products comply with either AS/NZS 5000.1 or AS/NZS 5000.2.

The range includes, Flat & Circular TPS (Tough Plastic Sheathed) cables, conduit wires single core circular TPS cables.

Application/Purpose

Used for the internal wiring of buildings, for example , mains , submains and supply of power to sockets , lighting , general low voltage electrical distribution.

Benefits/Advantages

Completely free from PVC, plasticisers and halogens. Under fire conditions, these products emit no acidic fumes and a lower density of smoke when compared to PVC insulated/sheathed cables. This has lower potential to damage sensitive electronic equipment and to aid escape from the building. Installed using the same techniques as conventional cables.

Composition

Conductors are insulated with cross linked polyethylene (XLPE); the sheathing material is a tough halogen free, flame retardant plastic with reduced smoke emission. Thermal stabilisers ensure a service life equal to or in excess of that expected from PVC insulated/sheathed cables.

XLPE is heat resistant and will not flow when exposed to pressure at elevated temperatures.

Technical Properties

Meets the flammability requirements of IEC 60332-1, tests on electric cables under fire conditions – test on a single vertical insulated wire or cable.
Compliant with either AS/NZS 5000.1 or 5000.2
Resistant to Ultra Violet light
Insulation material designation X-90 to AS/NZS 3808
Sheathing material Designation HFS-90-TP to AS/NZS 3808

Installation and Maintenance Summary

Electrical installation should comply with the requirements of AS/NZS 3000:2007. Cable ratings for various installation conditions can be obtained fro AS/NZS 3008.1.2:1998.
