Trimatrx environmentally friendly powder coating especially developed for MDF has pushed the boundary in product innovation. The innovative low cure formulation delivers all the benefits of convential powder coating including surface hardness, flexibility and stain resistance.

However gone are the days of being constrained by straight lines, sharp edges and flat surfaces. Now you can create more adventurous shapes including smooth rounded corners, soft bevelled edges and functional or aesthetic perforations.

Application/Purpose

Trimatrx is ideal for many building projects from large commercial fit-outs to residential joinery. Specific applications include workstations, table tops, cupboards doors, build-in furniture, partitions, panelling, shop-fitting, commercial shelving, ceiling systems, point of sale, exhibition displays, digital UV imaging and precoated board products.

Composition

Trimatrx is an innovative powder coating technology designed with Heat Sensitive Substrates in mind. Powder coating has long been recognised as an environmentally friendly coating. With little to no volatile organic compounds (VOC), Trimatrx contains no solvents and no water. Used efficiently, over 95% of the powder coating can be utilised.

Trimatrx Boards are designed with powder coating and design freedom in mind. Trimatrx Boards are unique high quality boards, ideally suited for powder coating, but suitable for many other applications. Trimatrx Boards can be shaped and routed to a high quality finish, whilst meeting the "moisture resistant" grade of "MDF" standards.

Technical Properties

-The density profile is designed “to have a smooth transition from the high density surface to the core without the disruption of secondary shoulders.” “It is tailored to give minimal re-sanding when extensively machined on edges and surfaces and allow free transfer of moisture from the surface to the core when exposed to heating in the powder coating process.”
-The resin is a high melamine specially formulated resin to support the demanding Trimatrx process. This helps produce low formaldehyde emission levels from the panel. Melamine has a stabilising effect on the bonding making it more durable and resistant to breakages.
-The final moisture content of the panel is lower and the tolerances are tighter than standard panels.
-The product is deliberately produced at a significantly slower speed through the press (for thicker panels) to ensure full utilisation of the available resin bonds within the panel.

Installation and Maintenance Summary

Application Procedure and Equipment
-For fluidised hoppers, ensure uniform fluidisation of powder.
-For box feeders, ensure probe is fully inserted in powder and operated.
-Apply by electrostatic spray.
-Test for cure of the coating by contact with a drop of Corsol PGMA (available from Orica Powder Coatings) for 30 seconds. Surface should be wiped dry and immediately checked for softening.

Care and Maintenance
-To maintain the attractive appearance of the Trimatrx® film, the surface can be washed with tepid water and mild liquid detergent, followed by a fresh water rinse.
