Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer - Adhesion Primer - Exterior / Interior - Waterborne

Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer has been tailored to be a waterborne ’adhesive primer’ over a series of surfaces usually considered difficult to coat or in need of expensive pretreatment. Fast drying, easy application and wide compatibility with topcoats are added features of this product.

Application/Purpose

Typical uses:
As a pre-treatment on
• Aluminium
• Baked enamels
• Copper and its alloys
• Glass and ceramics
• Laminated surfaces
• Melamine
• Most glazed surfaces
• Old varnished surfaces

Application:
Apply by spray, brush, speed brush or roller. Light bubbling may occur with some rollers and will require laying off. See Resene Data Sheet D47a and product label for full details.

Limitations:
1. Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer is not designed to give long-term exterior protection without overcoating. Durability of up to three months may be expected in mild marine conditions or better.
2. The system will usually attain maximum adhesion after several days.
3. Might not adhere to all plastics. A test patch is recommended

Unwanted paint and paint containers can be returned to the Resene PaintWise paint and paint packaging recovery programme. Returns are donated to community groups, sent to solvent recovery, packaging is recycled and other paint goes into covering graffiti and research on alternative uses. See link to Resene PaintWise.

Recoat time (minimum): 2 hours – waterborne paints, 4 hours – solventborne products, such as Resene Uracryl 403 (see Resene Data Sheet RA56) and Resene Imperite I.F. 503 (see Resene Data Sheet RA81); always use Resene Enamel Undercoat (see Data Sheet D44) before topcoating with solventborne paints.

Installation and Maintenance Summary

Resene products are guaranteed to provide film integrity and adhesion for the expected life of the paint system. See the link for a full copy of the Resene Promise of quality, which includes details of the expected paint system life.

Maintenance: Avoid cleaning the paint finish until at least four weeks after application time to ensure it has had sufficient time to fully develop its properties. Keep any cleaning to a minimum to avoid damaging the paint film. Follow the care and cleaning instructions in the Resene Caring for your paint finish brochure.
