Resene Lumbersider (inc. Cool Colour) – Satin Paint – Exterior / Interior - Waterborne

Resene Lumbersider is a waterborne, satin, interior and exterior decorative topcoat. Resene Lumbersider is based on a tough 100% acrylic resin to ensure maximum durability in all exposed conditions. Imparts a natural satin look that is fully washable.

Resene Lumbersider is also available in a Resene Cool Colour variant. NB. Resene Cool Colours need to be clearly identified in both the product specification and colour schedule to ensure correct tinting is applied.

Application/Purpose

Typical uses:

Application:
Resene Lumbersider can be applied by brush, speed brush, synthetic fibre roller or spray. See Resene Data Sheet D34 and product label for full details.

Limitations:
1. Do not apply at temperatures below 10°C or when it is liable to drop below 10°C during the drying period.
2. Use Resene Wood Primer (see Data Sheet D40) or Resene TimberLock 9see Data Sheet D48) for the first coat where the timber surface is showing signs of deterioration, particularly on deckings.
3. Disconnect roof downpipes until after the first shower of rain in order to flush away surplus non-toxic wetting agents before the surface is used for the collection of drinking water.
4. Trafficable areas coated with this unmodified product will not comply with the Building Act Clause D1.3.3(d).

Cool colours reflect more heat than standard colours, reducing stress on the paint, substrate and building, reducing heat transference inside and minimizing the need for air conditioning.

Unwanted paint and paint containers can be returned to the Resene PaintWise paint and paint packaging recovery programme. Returns are donated to community groups, sent to solvent recovery, packaging is recycled and other paint goes into covering graffiti and research on alternative uses. See link to Resene PaintWise.

Installation and Maintenance Summary

Resene products are guaranteed to provide film integrity and adhesion for the expected life of the paint system. See the link for a full copy of the Resene Promise of quality, which includes details of the expected paint system life.

Maintenance: Avoid cleaning the paint finish until at least four weeks after application time to ensure it has had sufficient time to fully develop its properties. Greenbuild has reviewed this product and confirms its potential contribution to points under the following credit categories:
IEQ-13	Up to three points are awarded where it is demonstrated that various finishes meet the benchmarks for low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) content. One point is awarded for each criterion below that is achieved: • 95% of all painted surfaces are low-VOC paints OR no paint is used; • All carpets are low-VOC OR no carpet is installed; and/or • All adhesives and sealants are low-VOC OR no adhesives/sealants are used.
Mat-10	One point is awarded where it can be demonstrated that 90% or more of the paints used are independently certified as having lower environmental impact than standard paints, as verified through a materials certification body recognised by the NZGBC (e.g. NZ Environmental Choice).
