Cool Colour) - Mineral Effect Flat Paint – Exterior - Waterborne Resene AquaShield is a high mineral content superhydrophobic, water repellent coating for application on most porous building materials to impart watershedding properties.Combines the water repellent properties of silicones with a special surface microstructure considerably reducing the contact area for water and dirt. The result: dirt particles adhere loosely and are more easily carried away by raindrops, leaving a dry and attractive facade. Ideal for highly stressed weatherexposed facades. Made to the original Deutsches Patentschrift 1284007. Resene Aquashield is also available in a Resene Cool Colour variant. NB. Resene Cool Colours need to be clearly identified in both the product specification and colour schedule to ensure correct tinting is applied. Key Properties: VOC: c. 7 grams per litre Usual no. of coats: 2 Environmental Choice approved: Yes Made in New Zealand: Yes 100% NZ owned and operated Typical uses: • Brick • Concrete block • Fibrous cement • Natural stone • Poured concrete • Stucco • Tilt slab

Typical uses: • Brick • Concrete block • Fibrous cement • Natural stone • Poured concrete • Stucco • Tilt slab Application: Resene Aquashield may be applied by brush, roller or airless spray. Recoat after two hours under normal conditions. See Resene Data Sheet D601 and product label for full details. Limitations: 1. Drying is slowed by low temperatures and high humidity. 2. Product properties are affected by high levels of tinter, therefore only a limited range of colours are offered. 3. Hydrophobicity, especially of tinted product, increases with time. Requires one month of direct weathering to achieve full hydrophobicity. 4. Colours will lighten with exposure. Care must be taken when touching up. 5. Avoid excessive film builds as it changes the surface microstructure and water repellency.
• Very high water repellent properties. • Excellent weather resistance. • Allows the substrate to breathe. • Improves fungal resistance of coated surface. • Attractive mineral flat appearance. • May be applied over a wide range of temperatures. • Compatible with a wide range of coatings – may be applied over most existing coatings and may be recoated with most coatings. • An Environmental Choice approved product. Cool colours reflect more heat than standard colours, reducing stress on the paint, substrate and building, reducing heat transference inside and minimizing the need for air conditioning. Unwanted paint and paint containers can be returned to the Resene PaintWise paint and paint packaging recovery programme. Returns are donated to community groups, sent to solvent recovery, packaging is recycled and other paint goes into covering graffiti and research on alternative uses. See link to Resene PaintWise.

Resene products are guaranteed to provide film integrity and adhesion for the expected life of the paint system. See the link for a full copy of the Resene Promise of quality, which includes details of the expected paint system life. Maintenance: Avoid cleaning the paint finish until at least four weeks after application time to ensure it has had sufficient time to fully develop its properties. Keep any cleaning to a minimum to avoid damaging the paint film. Follow the care and cleaning instructions in the Resene Caring for your paint finish brochure.
